IMMORTAL DIAMOND POEMS #8
For all
Of time
~
The temptation
To avoid
~
The void
Unknowing
~
Its emptiness
Hid the supremely
~
Important
The meaning
~
Of all
The grace
~
Fullness
Of the truly divine.

1.
~
So much fear
As if it was unbearable
~
To know
Our true selves
~
As if pain
Could destroy
~
The strength
Of the soul
~
Which endured it all
Despite the mind’s fall.
~
Inspired by ‘Immortal Diamond’ by Richard Rohr. He writes about “the human temptation to run from and deny not just the divine presence, but our own true selves, our inner destiny, our true identity“
~

2.
I was running
From God
As if life depended
On independence
A devoted delusion
Miring the mind
With ego’s sad
And blind confusion.
~
Inspired by Richard Rohr, who describes “the human temptation to run from and deny … the divine presence”.
~

3.
Deeper
Than our deepest identity
God
Our reality
Awaiting
Our destiny
Our source
Of love
Where we
May endlessly run.
~

4.
I was running
From my own pain
My own
Insecurity
Running into
A confusion
Of lies
A false security
Until there beckoned
A voice of divinity
Calling me deeper
Redefining my identity
From God
I now seek
A better
Eternity.

5.
Why
Did I deny
The divine presence
So present in those tastings
Of transcendence?
I did not know
It was God
Whispering in all
Still moments of transfiguration
I did not understand at all
The hidden power
Of timeless revelation.
~

6.
Within
There are demons
As well as divine
Darkness
So how to discover
God is also there?
And way beyond
Both far and near
Loving me there
Now and here.
~

7.
No one else
Can say
Where your courage
Awaits
For mind, will,
And emotion
Must summon
Your soul
To goodness
And to action.
