Running from God

Running from God

IMMORTAL DIAMOND POEMS #2

~

I was running

From God

As if life depended

On independence

A devoted delusion

Miring the mind

With ego’s sad

And blind confusion.

~

Inspired by Richard Rohr, who describes “the human temptation to run from and deny … the divine presence”.

So much fear

As if it was unbearable

~

To know

Our true selves

~

As if pain

Could destroy

~

The strength

Of the soul

~

Which endured it all

Despite the mind’s fall.

~

Inspired by ‘Immortal Diamond’ by Richard Rohr. He writes aboutthe human temptation to run from and deny not just the divine presence, but our own true selves, our inner destiny, our true identity
